Counselor's Corner

Welcome to the Counselor’s Corner webpage! My name is Jody Shapiro, and this is my 8th year as the counselor here at Pasadena Park Elementary. I earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Eastern Washington University and my School Counseling Certificate from Gonzaga University.

Before working as a school counselor, I worked as a therapist in the public mental health system. In my free time, I enjoy long distance running and learning about history and current events. And I'm a big Boston Celtics fan!

I work closely with our new counseling assistant, Nichole Zamora, to provide a comprehensive guidance program. Here are some of the services we provide:

  • ASB/Student Council
  • CST (Child Study Team) Meetings
  • Friendship Groups
  • Individual Meetings with Students
  • Leadership Group
  • Lunch Bunch
  • Mediation/Conflict Resolution
  • PACE (Partners Advancing Character Education) Monthly Assemblies
  • Panda Pride Classroom Lessons
  • Refocus/Re-teaching in the PR room (counseling center)
  • Schoolwide Reward System (includes Panda Pride Cards, Students of the Week, and Panda Paw Classroom Parties)
  • Weekend Food

I continue to be grateful to work at such a wonderful school and to serve the West Valley community. Please feel free to contact us in the PR room if your child is having a problem or conflict that is getting in the way of his/her learning. For issues outside of school that require long-term counseling, we can provide you with names of licensed counselors and psychologists in the area.

Best wishes for a great school year!
